Composer Diallo Banks has received commissions, awards and performances by ensembles and soloists across the US and Europe including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, members of Contemporary Insights Ensemble in Leipzig Germany and the Seraphic Vocal Ensemble. Diallo was most recently named a finalist in the San Francisco Symphony’s Emerging Black Composers Competition and participated in the Contemporary Insights Summer Academy For Present Day Music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” and in 2023 was named a fellow at the Atlantic Center for the Arts  in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and was awarded a fellowship to the  Susan and Ford Schuman Center for Composition Studies at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Diallo’s primary mission as a composer is to explore and synthesize unique and complex sounds, and have fun with others in the process. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida and currently studies at the Yale School of Music where he is a recipient of the Lori Laitman Fellowship and studies under the tutelage of Martin Bresnick and Katherine Balch.
